About the Restaurant

Shelly’s is a family business. Stop in on a Friday night and you will likely find all four family members working in the restaurant. We enjoy working hard and we feel a strong sense of community to Springville.

First time visitors to Shelly’s often say “this place is more than we expected” whether they are enjoying a quiet meal or dining with a group.

The historic building that is now Shelly’s is most remember as Frank’s Place which opened in 1973 and operated into the late 1990’s. If you’ve not been to Shelly’s since it was Frank’s you will be pleasantly surprised. A complete remodel has modernized the kitchen, added a café style bar area, and two dining rooms.

About the Owner

A farm girl raised in the Springville area, Shelly knows food. Growing up she spent summers as an active 4H member gardening and showing Black Angus cattle. Shelly worked for four years in the restaurant/catering business at the downtown Cedar Rapids restaurant, The Souper. After The Souper, she spent 12 years at Intertrade/Rockwell Collins in the corporate aviation sales department. Missing the restaurant business, Shelly took the opportunity to open her own restaurant in the community where she has been an active member her entire life. If you were a fan of The Souper, you can now get your all favorite Souper dishes at Shelly’s.
